'Candy game'
The legal representative, handling the case, detailed the defendant's actions to the judicial body.
She explained his victims were disadvantaged youngsters who were attending a summer program which he managed.
The defendant played a "candy game" with the minors, the legal counsel explained, in which he would go into the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to ingest treats "as fast as possible".
She stated to the judge the man had conducted this practice with the boys "over an extended period", and children had previously become sick the following morning.
She explained the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the minors being "overexcited from fun", until his family member had suspicions in summer 2025.
Mrs Prior KC stated further: "Recently" his family member had suspicions about the activities, justifiably.
"They resolved" to examine in the defendant's belongings."
Mrs Prior KC said objects including lubricant, ointment and injection devices were located, and his stepson notified the authorities about his worries.
She said the man went on to engage in the "candy game" with six boys that night - July 26th - and they were everyone unwell the following morning.
"The police had not responded by that stage," she continued.
The oversight body, the investigative body, earlier informed that it was examining Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.
Mrs Prior stated the children were struggling to walk due to their condition, so the stepson called the authorities a second time.
She explained the man then engaged in the "sweet game" in a space of five youngsters.
