Large-scale Russian Strikes Cut Electricity Across Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities targeted in the region
Ukraine's power facilities have faced increased strikes in the past few days

During the night, Russian aerial assaults have led to electricity outages in large parts of the capital city, Kyiv.

Nine people were injured while residents in the city's east were experienced blackouts and encountered interruptions to water systems, as stated by municipal leaders.

Simultaneously, a minor was fatally injured in a different assault in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southern area, based on information from regional authorities.

Moscow has increased strikes on electrical systems over the last fortnight, while the country's government has demanded "substantial measures" from international partners to apply pressure on Russia.

"The necessity is not window dressing but firm measures - from the United States, European nations and the G7 - in providing defensive weapons and enforcing restrictions," mentioned in a public message.

He said that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and more than 30 missiles targeted the country's power systems, describing such strikes as "cynical and calculated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as the weather cools.

Energy officials said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and maintenance teams were striving to restore power.

A barrage of missiles damaged energy infrastructure and civilian homes in the capital.

Five out of the nine people hurt in the assaults on the capital have been taken to hospital, according to local officials.

Area administrators said the city came under intense attacks during nighttime hours. A seven-year-old child lost their life and several individuals were injured.

The attacks come after nights of bombing campaigns in the territory, portions of which are currently controlled by invading troops.

All of Ukraine is in a state of readiness for advanced weapon attacks, which are harder to detect.

National leaders told the media that Russia was intentionally trying to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with attacks already affecting gas facilities.

Authorities confirmed utility staff and government agencies were bracing for more assaults.
